Their product range consists of bathroom, kitchen and bedroom accessories. The role will consist of a mixture of Business Development and Account Management to maximise the sales of the company’s products. Previous experience selling to retail outlets and showrooms is of high interest although anyone with a strong B2B sales background will be considered.

Graduate Mechanical Engineer

The wide ranging scope of this role is specifically intended to allow for the successful candidate to develop – the direction of which is not prescribed, so that opportunities will exist for the successful candidate to progress their career in the direction that best suits them, eg. design, project engineering, technical sales.

The Role:

* Product design and development, research, participation in technical reviews, testing, monitoring, and modification in the field.
* Optimization of designs to suit the in-house production facilities, which will include coordination with manufacturing.
* R&D work including product testing.
* Project engineering and management.
* Preparation of instruction manuals and other technical documentation.
* The basic working hours for this post are 42.5 hours per week from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm with 30 minutes lunch break.

The Candidate:

* Will hold a Mechanical Engineering degree or similar.
* Effective communication skills, enthusiasm, flexibility, and thoroughness.
* Good team player.
* Resourceful hands-on approach to technical problem solving.
* Practical engineering skills.

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

To provide technical expertise in all areas of Mechanical Engineering. The work will include the mechanical input from feasibility through to construction and commissioning on a wide variety of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Liaise with Clients and Contractors to identify opportunities and develop business relationships
- Provide the Mechanical input into asset surveys and product condition assessments, feasibility studies, whole life costing and conceptual design
- Responsibility for detailed design, value engineering, specification and selection of process equipment, tender assessments, reports and recommendations
- Produce project documentation including engineering specifications, data sheets, layout drawings etc
- Undertake site inspections, carry out feasibility reviews and work up proposals for the schemes
- Produce the mechanical specifications and deliverables for schemes in accordance with current legislation and standards for the scheme requirements
- Liase with Subcontractors and deal with technical queries
- Undertake factory acceptance testing of mechanical plant
- Undertake site testing and commissioning
- Using appropriate software to provide advice, solutions and successful project outcomes for clients.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced members within the team

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

REQUIREMENTS
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant subject
- Professionally qualified (Chartered Engineer or equivalent) and member of a relevant engineering institution i.e. IMechE
- Ability to manage and develop projects from a brief
- Knowledge and skills in the in the planning, specification, design procurement and commissioning of equipment
- Possess sound knowledge of current legislation and able to work in accordance with QA and H&S procedures.
- Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office

Recruitment Cost Savings – Save Money and Time

The recruitment of new staff costs money and time. Everyone knows this but have you calculated how much? We have and thought we’d share it with you.

The total cost of time finding a new staff member is approx 37 hours (a full working week!). Here is the breakdown:

  • Writing a job specification = 30 minutes
  • Prepare an advert = 30 minutes
  • Selecting your media (Newspaper, Job board, etc) = 15 minutes
  • Proof the copy of your advert = 15 minutes
  • Answering telephone enquiries = 7 hours
  • Reviewing applicants CVs = 7 hours
  • Select a short list of candidates = 1 hour
  • Informing unsuccessful candidates = 2 hours
  • Call/ Write to candidates to confirm interviews = 1 hour
  • Conduct first interviews *10 candidates = 10 hours
  • Perform second interviews * 3 candidates = 3 hours
  • Decide which candidate is successful = 30 minutes
  • Inform unsuccessful candidates = 30 minutes
  • Inform the successful candidate verbally and by writing = 30 minutes
  • Retrieve references = 3 hours
